Andy

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 2 months

Andy is still at the beginning of his life. At his age, playing, discovering, sleeping, eating and learning about the world every day are on the agenda. Andy's start in life was far from self-evident. His mother Novia was given up in the context of a sterilization campaign in Bologa. At first, no one knew that she had given birth to puppies just a few days earlier. It wasn't until a few hours later that the man who had lived with her brought a box with ten tiny babies back. Novia was severely underweight and dehydrated at this point and didn't have enough milk to feed her large family. The helpers immediately started feeding the little ones with a bottle. Shortly afterwards, Fiene came to the campaign, who is also a mother of two puppies. She took some of Novia's puppies in addition and helped to give them warmth, milk and care. Two of the ten puppies unfortunately didn't make it. Andy is one of the eight little fighters who survived. Like every puppy, Andy still has a lot to learn. Housebreaking, walking on a leash, driving a car, household noises, visitors, keeping quiet and even staying alone for a short time are not things that a young dog automatically masters. All of this should be built up step by step and with patience. Equally important are sufficient sleep and rest phases - a puppy doesn't have to be constantly busy. And puberty will come at some point. Then, what has been learned can suddenly be questioned again, concentration can fluctuate and smells or other dogs can suddenly be more interesting than the person at the other end of the leash. This is a normal part of development. Loving consistency, clear structures and a little humor help through this time much better than pressure or punishment. Optically, Andy could have a share of a livestock guardian dog mixed in. Livestock guardian dogs were bred to act independently, observe their surroundings attentively and make decisions without constant guidance from humans. Therefore, independence, vigilance and territorial behavior can become more pronounced with increasing age. This is not "disobedience", but can belong to their original task. Therefore, we are looking for people who deal with livestock guardian dogs and their needs before adopting Andy. A rather rural home with enough space and ideally a securely fenced garden would be particularly nice. Clear, fair rules, peace, patience and an upbringing without harshness are important. A positively working dog school, preferably with experience with livestock guardian dogs or their crossbreeds, can accompany the development sensibly. Since Andy is still growing, we cannot reliably predict his later size and final development. Therefore, whoever decides for him should not only see the cute puppy, but also the adult dog that he will become one day. Andy is chipped, vaccinated, dewormed and flea-free. He is ready to travel at the end of October and travels with his EU pet passport. He will be placed after a positive preliminary check, with a protection contract and against a deposit. We would also be happy about a suitable foster home for him. Many thanks to the namesake Michaela, who gave Andy his name. Status: 17.09.2026 Further information on the topic of preliminary check and deposit

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Andy

What life with Andy looks like

Andy is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Andy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Andy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Andy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Andy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Andy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Andy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Andy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
