adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Andy has found a home! His story: 39291 Lüttgenziatz. The super friendly Andy is looking for a quiet spot to be happy. Andy is very open, loves all people and especially being his belly rubbed! He is nicely quiet and relaxed in the house and is already house-trained. The sweet Andy goes well on a leash. When passersby, joggers, or cyclists approach him, he is a bit unsure and seeks the proximity of his primary caregiver. Andy is around 6-7 years old and has a medium size of about 50 cm. As it befits a Labrador mix (and that is certainly in him), Andy is always ready for a treat. He wants to do everything right and please his people. The sweet guy sometimes reacts fearfully when someone touches him unexpectedly from behind. This is because Andy has a back problem. He still shows moderate pain reactions on both sides of the back, which have been significantly reduced or are no longer present after physiotherapy treatments. Andy receives regular physiotherapy, which also shows very good results, as well as pain medication. Andy lives in the kennel with several other dogs. He can also stay alone very well in the pack. Currently, he lives in the kennel with many other dogs, which is no problem for him. All in all, Andy is an absolutely great dog! With a loving upbringing and positively reinforced training, he will undoubtedly be a dream companion who sticks with his people through thick and thin. Andy is more of a quiet companion, so he is looking for a quiet home. Long walks and hikes are not possible for Andy. His new home should be ground-level without many stairs. A nice home with house and garden would be perfect for Andy. We wish Andy a quiet environment without children and much commotion. Andy will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas in his new home. He will of course bring an EU pet passport with him. When can Andy move in with you and get his own warm dog bed at your place? Many thanks Regine! You named Andy!

Vielen Dank Regine! Du hast Andy seinen Namen geschenkt!

About Andy

What life with Andy looks like

Andy is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Andy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Andy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Andy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Andy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Andy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Andy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Andy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
