Anika Steckbrief ♀️ female / neutered 🎂 02/2025 (estimated) ⚖️ ca. 40 cm, 12 kg ✔️ vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed 📖 Bosnian pet certificate 🐈 compatibility with others: Unfortunately, cat compatibility cannot be tested on-site. 📍 animal shelter Neverland (Bosnia) Hello, I'm the delicate Anika! My mother was a street dog who found a secret hideout on a rooftop to give birth to me and my sisters. It wasn't discovered until a few weeks later, but we were very fortunate to land with a very animal-loving family who spoiled us. They were so in love with us, they even adopted our mother – and they asked the animal shelter Neverland for help when it came to us babies, and here I am. 🙂 Since I spent my first weeks of life exclusively on the dark rooftop, I naturally missed out on a lot. That's why I'm a bit shy, but also very curious. Since the animal shelter is quite busy, I sometimes lack the peace to really come out of my shell. Overall, though, I get along well with everyone here. People say I'm a very sweet, smart, and pretty mouse! ☺️ I would really love to see more of the world, preferably with my own family. At the animal shelter, it's a bit too busy for me. 😅 You should bring a little patience and understanding so I can settle in and discover everything at my own pace. I would love to be with you forever! Can you imagine that? Then please get in touch and ask about Anika.

About Anika

What life with Anika looks like

Anika is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stray Dogs Bosnien e.V. in Schwabach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anika, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anika?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stray Dogs Bosnien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anika on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anika if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stray Dogs Bosnien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anika already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anika isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stray Dogs Bosnien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anika and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
