Adopt Anna

Greyhound · Female · Adult · 4 years

Anna is a laid back Greyhound who enjoys gentle company and a calm environment. Anna has been lovely with everyone she’s met so far. She’s happy to wander over for a cheerful hello and always enjoys a gentle fuss and some affection. She is currently based at Battersea Old Windsor Anna has settled nicely during her time here at Battersea Old Windsor and is often found curled up, fast asleep on her bed. In her previous home, Anna found it difficult when left on her own and could become quite stressed, which sometimes led to her chewing items. Despite this, she was able to sleep independently in the kitchen overnight. She is currently learning a “bed” cue and practising how to relax by herself. Continuing this gentle training at home will help her grow in confidence and feel secure. Anna has been enjoying some gentle playtime whilst in our care. She’s especially fond of soft squeaky toys and can often be seen quietly entertaining herself with one in her kennel, they seem to be her favourite. In her previous home, Anna didn’t always feel comfortable around the other dogs. She preferred her own space and would sometimes snap if another dog approached her while she was resting in her bed. Because of this, Anna will need to be the only dog in her new household so she can fully relax and feel secure. Out on walks, however, Anna was much more at ease. Her previous owner shared that she greeted other dogs politely — she wasn’t particularly playful, but she was friendly and calm during interactions. To help keep her socialised, she may really enjoy having a regular walking buddy who matches her pace and style. Anna will make a truly lovely companion, bringing plenty of joy with her gentle nature and wonderfully laid back personality. About Anna

What life with Anna looks like

Anna is a large adult greyhound dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
