Adopt Annelie

European Shorthair · Female · Young · 2 years

Annelie is a wonderful, gentle female cat who has had to fend for herself a lot in her previous life. She lived on the streets and came to us as a stray at the animal shelter. Human contact is still unfamiliar to her, and at the moment, she prefers to keep her distance. She doesn't like being stroked yet, but instead, she likes to observe what is happening from a safe distance and keep everything she sees with a keen interest. Annelie needs safe retreats where she can feel secure. She is very social and compatible with other cats, likes to orient herself by observing fellow animals, and feels much more comfortable in company. A friendly second cat or a small, harmonious group of cats would be ideal for her. We are looking for a quiet, patient home for Annelie with a yard and plenty of space, where she can be given time to adjust at her own pace. With love, patience, and understanding, she has great potential to build trust and start her new life step by step. If you would like to meet Annelie, please fill out our inquiry form. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Annelie

What life with Annelie looks like

Annelie is a large young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierhelfer Ingelheim e. V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Annelie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Annelie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhelfer Ingelheim e. V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Annelie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Annelie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhelfer Ingelheim e. V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Annelie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Annelie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhelfer Ingelheim e. V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Annelie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
