Adopt Anton

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Vaccination and rabies Anton is looking for his forever home! The handsome Anton (born around 3.5 years old) is a neutered hunting dog-mix breed (48 cm / 14 kg), microchipped and vaccinated. Anton is a shy, playful bundle of energy that loves his people above all else. For praise and treats, he gives his best – he knows many commands and has good basic obedience. He is generally compatible with other dogs, but not all breeds are to his liking. A dog-experienced, calm household (without children) is sought, preferably with a sovereign-only dog. Anton needs someone who can give him security and guide him clearly. A rural home with a garden would be a dream, but is not a must. Anton is insecure and sometimes suspicious of strangers. Therefore, managing visits to the house is required, although progress has already been made in this area. Even in his current family, he sometimes challenges male trusted people – with clear guidance, this can be managed. Anton loves exercise, nose work, and trick training. He runs beautifully alongside a bike and is also a great jogging partner. He can be left alone without any problems, although he doesn't enjoy car rides, but manages them. Anton currently lives in Hamburg and can be met there.

About Anton

What life with Anton looks like

Anton is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ankerhunde e.V. in Novi Grad.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇦Adopting from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anton, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anton?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ankerhunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anton on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anton if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ankerhunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anton already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anton isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ankerhunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anton and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
