Anton

Vizsla · Male

I am Anton, a real treasure, although I am already older. I am a great dog looking for an equally great place. This is me: I am a very people-oriented, friendly and dear guy. In the animal shelter I show my best side and I am happy about attention and activity. I especially like food games. I am also house trained and let myself be led quietly past other dogs. However, I am also quite vocal. My future people should not let that disturb them. Unfortunately, age also brings health problems. I have arthritis and heart problems. I get medication for my pain, but I don't need it for my heart yet. Despite my ailments, I am surprisingly lively for my age. I wish for... a loving home with dog-experienced people who would like to give me a beautiful time. A rather quiet neighborhood would be ideal. It is important that I live on the ground floor, because stairs are nothing for me because of my joint problems. Children living in the household should be at least twelve years old. Do you want to meet me? Then contact me via the inquiry form below or by phone at Lassie-Haus (daily 13-16 except Saturdays).

About Anton

What life with Anton looks like

Anton is a large adult vizsla dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anton, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anton?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anton on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anton if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Anton already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anton isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anton and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
