Adopt Apollo

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Apollo, a timid puppy, has a special story. Even in his early years, it was clear to him that the world could often be frightening and confusing. However, fate gave him a new opportunity when we found him a kind and patient owner. The period he spent in this family from his adolescence to adulthood significantly shaped Apollo's personality. He learned that the world is not only a threatening and confusing place, but also full of love and care. A strong bond formed between Apollo and his new owner, almost making them inseparable. Unfortunately, due to family reasons, Apollo had to face change again and search for a new owner. The new situation was not easy for him this time. This time, it wasn't the dynamics among the four dogs or his wife's behavior that caused him problems, but the husband who couldn't cope with Apollo's unique character. Apollo, who had previously shown that he was capable of regaining trust and adapting through a long and patient process, once again felt lost. Unfortunately, Apollo ended up back at our shelter. At the shelter, we take good care of him, ensuring the necessary care and love. Apollo's story reminds us that every animal and person has unique needs and characteristics. It is important to treat each other with understanding and care, and to seek solutions that help in coexistence and creating harmony. Apollo's example encourages us never to lose hope and always seek the path towards love and acceptance.

Sajnálatos módon Apolló újra a menhelyünkre került.

About Apollo

What life with Apollo looks like

Apollo is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Állatvédelmi Centrum in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Apollo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Apollo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Állatvédelmi Centrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Apollo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Apollo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Állatvédelmi Centrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Apollo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Apollo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Állatvédelmi Centrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Apollo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
