Adopt Apollo

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Vaccination + Rabies Apollo Seeks His Second Chance For his former owner, Apollo had to run races in Bosnia. When this owner passed away, he was simply passed on and had to continue running races. Until he got injured by a tendon... From then on, he was considered "useless" and was cruelly abandoned. A kind man found him in a terrible state and saved his life. Thanks to his caretaker's care, Apollo has recovered remarkably well. Unfortunately, his rescuer can't keep him and has asked us for help to find Apollo a loving home at last. Apollo is a strong, very loving male dog – people-oriented, intelligent, sensitive, and full of joy. The active young dog bonds closely with his trusted people and longs nothing more than to finally arrive. Apollo is approximately 6 years old and will travel neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated to his new life. Who will show him how beautiful life can be?

About Apollo

What life with Apollo looks like

Apollo is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ankerhunde e.V. in Novi Grad.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇦Adopting from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Apollo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Apollo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ankerhunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Apollo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Apollo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ankerhunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Apollo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Apollo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ankerhunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Apollo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
