Adopt Apollo

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Hi there! I’m a 12-year-old Giant Schnauzer mix—yes, I’m already a bit older, but believe me: in my heart, I’m still full of love and joy for life. I’m more of a relaxed guy. Big adventures aren’t really necessary for me anymore—a nice walk where I politely walk beside you on the leash is more than enough. After that, a soft spot to lie down and lots of closeness… that’s my idea of happiness. I absolutely love people—truly everyone! Young or old—I think kids are great, and I’m always happy to receive a gentle stroke. My favorite thing is snuggling right up next to you and simply enjoying our time together. You could say I’m a real cuddlebug. All I’m hoping for now is one last home—a place where I can finally belong. People who don’t mind my age and show me just how wonderful it feels to be loved. I don’t need much—just a little patience, a warm dog bed, and lots and lots of heart. I may not be the youngest anymore, but in return, I’ll be a loyal companion who enriches your days with my calm demeanor and deep affection. Maybe you’re exactly the person I’ve been waiting for all this time?

About Apollo

What life with Apollo looks like

Apollo is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg in Wolfsberg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Apollo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Apollo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Apollo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Apollo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Apollo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Apollo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Apollo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
