Elisa

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 4 years

Hello, I am Elisa... and I am looking for a home that will take me as I am. At first, you might see only a small, shy cat who prefers to hide rather than say "hello" directly. I need a bit of time to build trust. New people, new sounds, new smells – all of this can be a little scary at first. But if you have patience and give me the time I need, I will slowly open up step by step. And when that happens, I will show you my true, gentle heart. But I still have something important to tell you: I am FIP-positive. What does that mean? FIP stands for Feline Infectious Peritonitis. It is an illness that is triggered by the Feline Coronavirus – a virus that many cats carry within them without ever becoming sick. In some cats, like me, the virus changes in the body and can then trigger FIP. Thanks to modern treatment options, FIP is no longer a hopeless sentence today. Many cats can lead a good, happy life – just like the one I wish for myself. What does it mean for other cats? I can live well in a home with other cats if they are also FIP-positive. For cats that are not FIP-positive, living together would not be suitable because the base virus is contagious. But with fellow animals who are also FIP-positive like me, I can live happily, play, snuggle, and form friendships. I am looking for someone who will give me a quiet, loving home... someone with heart, patience, and understanding. If you give me time, I will show you how much trust, affection, and love can also be found in a shy cat. Maybe you are exactly the person I have been waiting for so long.

Was bedeutet das?

About Elisa

What life with Elisa looks like

Elisa is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg in Wolfsberg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elisa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elisa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elisa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elisa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elisa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elisa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elisa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
