Adopt El

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

El the handsome Apollo is a young and active pup who hasn't had the luck to live in a real home yet. He was born on September 30, 2020. He's of medium size and has lots of love to give 🙂 Apollo lived tied to a tree until a friend of our shelter saw him and decided to help him out and offer him the chance to live freely and surrounded by love and respect. Since August 2021, Apollo has been part of the family at the animal shelter, where he's met all his canine friends and the volunteers, who dote on him and give him all the love he's always deserved. Our boy, in addition to being a handsome and charming pup, is super fun and playful. A unstoppable bundle of energy who has a blast with all the dogs at the animal shelter. He gets along well with both males and females. Plus, he's smart and obedient, meaning, although he's always "on the go" with energy, with the help of the volunteers and other dogs, he's slowly learning to control it. Did you know? He can even sit 🙂 Truly, he's a very good and affectionate pup. You can come to meet him at the animal shelter without any commitment. Write us and we'll tell you more. Apollo is in perfect health. He's negative for ehrlichia, heartworm, and leishmaniasis. He has a microchip, a veterinary record, is up-to-date on his vaccinations, has been dewormed, and is neutered.

About El

What life with El looks like

El is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at El Refugio Escuela Marlene in Seville.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting El, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about El?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. El Refugio Escuela Marlene handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw El on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt El if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — El Refugio Escuela Marlene will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is El already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if El isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with El Refugio Escuela Marlene early rather than rehoming privately; they know El and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
