Adopt El

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 12 years

Cute, huh! AITOR is a kitten who has always lived in a feral cat colony but now seeks the perfect opportunity to live with El with 100% attention focused on him, becoming El's spoiled cat; although it would also be great if he had one or two fluffy siblings. AITOR was born on 19.6.2014, and he is a sweet and loving adult Siamese cat. 🙂 AITOR is a super endearing kitten. He arrived with us a bit shy and insecure, but as days passed, he let his true feline self shine. 🙂 You can't imagine how much he loves to be pampered! He has become the most affectionate cat in the entire cattery. As soon as one of the volunteers pokes their head out of the little house for our felines, AITOR starts his routine of stretching, meowing, and practicing rubbing to win you over a little more each day. And we... so happy! He is a social, affectionate, very, very loving, respectful to his feline companions cat. More than ready to start a new life with you and surrounded by that peace and security that only El home can provide. As for his health status, AITOR is a healthy cat, with a negative result for Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV), calicivirus, and feline immunodeficiency virus. In other words, a smart and cunning little feline (well, they all are, hehehe. But it doesn't hurt to remind ourselves of his main qualities).

¡Guapura, eh!

About El

What life with El looks like

El is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at El Refugio Escuela Marlene in Seville.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting El, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about El?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. El Refugio Escuela Marlene handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw El on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt El if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — El Refugio Escuela Marlene will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is El already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if El isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with El Refugio Escuela Marlene early rather than rehoming privately; they know El and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
