Apsik

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Meet Apsik, the charming, black-and-white puppy who is learning what a true, safe home feels like under the wings of Mailutkov Temporary Shelter. His beginnings were not easy, so the human touch and the new, unfamiliar surroundings initially caused him some distress. However, Apsik proves every day how incredibly brave he is. This little puppy puts in immense effort and heart to learn the household rules and—most importantly—overcome his fear of humans. Watching his determination is pure inspiration. Step by step, day by day, Apsik begins to open up. He realizes that human touch brings only good, comfort, and safety. Though his little heart still sometimes trembles, it's clear that his desire to be hugged and loved is much stronger. Apsik is still learning the world, so his socialization process is still ongoing. We are looking for a person full of love and empathy who won't rush anything and will show patience. Companioning him with another well-balanced dog who can show him how to enjoy dog life and build confidence would be very helpful. Adopting a puppy who fights his fears with such dedication is an incredible experience. The moment when Apsik fully trusts his human and gives him his entire puppy heart will be invaluable.

Ten mały piesek wkłada ogrom pracy i serca w to, aby poznać domowe zasady i – co najważniejsze – przełamać swój strach przed człowiekiem. Moment, w którym Apsik w pełni zaufa swojemu człowiekowi i odda mu całe swoje psie serce, będzie bezcenny.

About Apsik

What life with Apsik looks like

Apsik is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Apsik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Apsik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Apsik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Apsik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Apsik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Apsik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Apsik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
