Aramis

Male · Adult · 5 years

His entire childhood and teenage years were spent in an animal shelter... Already more than four years of life confined to a concrete, cold kennel and a wooden hut, constantly waiting for at least one walk during the day... Four years, with a break for an unsuccessful adoption. Is this how His whole life should look? Aramis is still a young dog, a fascinating, absolutely unique and completely unexpected dog. He is an independent dog who wants to live a real dog's life and take it in handfuls. How should a real dog's life look through Aramis's eyes? - A life full of freedom, long walks in nature. You should know that Aramis is a fantastic walking companion: he doesn't pull on the leash, happily explores the terrain, reacts beautifully to calls. Usually, he also nicely meets other dogs. He is very smart: he is eager to train and learns quickly! - This is a caregiver who will allow him just to "be a dog": he will give him space, won't impose himself, will observe him carefully and respond to his communication - because Aramis has a professor's title in dog communication and is definitely looking for caregivers who want to pursue a doctorate in this area! - This is a life filled with treats and snacks - Aramis is a big glutton, and the greatest joy for him is getting food :) Unfortunately, Aramis has spent almost his whole life in the animal shelter, and this is the only life he knows and gives him a sense of security. Home life will be something completely new for him, and thus unknown and... difficult. And in difficult situations, Aramis turns on the control mode, has difficulty calming down, and in extreme situations for him, may defend himself with his teeth (he doesn't bite painfully, rather warningly). Therefore, he needs a caregiver who can gradually introduce him to home life and build a sense of security by meeting his needs, establishing a routine, listening to his communications, and respecting his boundaries. Aramis who trusts can be a fantastic friend. And the sight of a calm and happy Aramis is the best reward for the work invested in building a relationship with him. Over the past year in shelter conditions, Aramis has done a lot of work in building relationships with other dogs. We believe that in a properly matched home, he will flourish. He just needs someone who accepts him as he is: unique and unconventional. Someone who will allow him to be a dog, in the best Aramis version. Someone who will give a dog wronged by life a chance, who hasn't yet received his proper chance... *Living Conditions For Aramis, we are looking for a home in a quiet area, ideally with a garden, but it is not a necessary condition. It is important that the space of the house is spacious, rather open, allowing for free passing and organizing a quiet place for the dog to rest. Aramis is not suitable for a home with children. The adoption process will require a home visit and may be extended due to the need to build a relationship. We encourage you to follow our social media, where you will find more photos and videos of Aramis!

Całe dzieciństwo i okres nastoletni spędził w schronisku… Aramis to wciąż młody pies, pies fascynujący, absolutnie wyjątkowy i całkowicie nieoczywisty. To pies niezależny, który chce żyć prawdziwym psim życiem i czerpać z niego garściami. A jak powinno wyglądać prawdziwe psie życie oczami Aramisa? - To życie pełne wolności, długich spacerów w otoczeniu natury. About Aramis

What life with Aramis looks like

Aramis is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires gradual introduction to home life, needs secure space, can be defensive when stressed

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aramis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aramis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aramis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aramis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aramis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aramis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aramis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
