Arczi

Husky · Male · Senior · 14 years

Arczi is a very smart dog. He easily learns commands, reacts well to instructions, and works fantastically. The tone of the caregiver's voice can guide him to the right reaction. When he enters dense bushes where the leash might get tangled in branches, it's enough to calmly say "Don't go there" and he immediately turns back as if understanding human speech. When he digs in a discarded plastic bag - we say "Leave it!" and he immediately drops the bag and comes to us for a reward for perfectly following the command. Arczi likes to play fetch, brings the ball right under our feet and sits nicely waiting for a reward. We have taught him to wear a muzzle, we can brush him, change his collar, put on a harness, he accepts touch and petting and is increasingly enjoying it. He loves water, puddles, and takes baths regardless of temperature or weather. Arczi needs a lot of activity, he also loves walks but also likes to lie on the ground chewing happily at a ball. Arczi, when he first came to the animal shelter, often reacted with aggression in difficult situations for him. He is now very calm and quiet. He often comes for a pat and likes to lie right next to the legs of his favorite volunteers. However, we still remember how he used to react before. We don't hide that Arczi is not the easiest dog to adopt from our animal shelter. However, the progress that this dog has made, especially in recent times, convinces us that Arczi certainly deserves a normal home and his people. He deserves to not die in a shelter cage, behind bars. Anyone interested in adopting Arczy should have experience and sensitivity in dealing with difficult dogs. They should be able to read the messages sent by the dog. It is also important to build a relationship with Arczy, which can significantly extend the adoption process. The dog will undergo an individual adoption procedure involving a behaviorist. Arczi is not suitable for apartment living, or conditions without the possibility of isolating the dog from the household members - reacting violently to accidental touch or defending resources could pose a danger. A house with a yard and a fence is preferred, where the dog can safely stay and, as the relationship with the household members develops, can be invited for more contact and visits to the house. The dog requires walks and it is necessary to ensure at least one walk every day, not just spending time in the yard. The dog also needs human contact, he cannot live in isolation, as it is evident that the presence of known people makes him happy. A very important condition for adoption is the possibility of providing the dog with proper veterinary care, that is, access to a veterinarian experienced in dealing with problematic dogs, with the possibility of visiting the home. Constant cooperation with a behaviorist is also necessary.

Gdy grzebie w porzuconej plastikowej torbie – Mówimy ZOSTAW! Nauczyliśmy go kagańca, potrafimy go wyczesać, możemy mu zmienić obrożę, założyć szelki, akceptuje dotyk i głaskanie i coraz bardziej mu się to podoba. Viola 720851234 Ola 505176286

About Arczi

What life with Arczi looks like

Arczi is a large senior husky dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arczi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arczi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arczi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arczi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arczi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arczi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arczi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
