Argon

Male · Adult · 6 years

Argon is a fantastic dog whose bad luck never leaves. He is a 5-year-old dog with a terrier's soul, who has spent his entire life in an animal shelter with two short breaks for adoption. Yes, that's right. Two... Argon has returned from adoption for the second time and thus hasn't escaped the noise and stress. As befits a terrier, Argon is a character, and on walks he shows a wide range of his abilities: from barking at some passing dogs, through running around the field with his tongue out as if there was no tomorrow, to calm walking on a loose leash. After all the madness that a shelter dog's life has to offer, Argonik finds a place with his volunteers and gives himself to cuddles. Argon loves water above all. In summer, he never misses an opportunity to wet his belly, even in a small puddle. Argon once had difficulties accepting new people in his environment, but after all these years of work, we see that he now approaches new people with great curiosity. Instead of fear and anxiety towards strangers, there is a desire to expand the volunteer group. Accepting new people was a breakthrough moment in Argon's life, and we are proud that we could take part in this transformation! Argon clearly shows what he likes and what he doesn't. His future caregiver should know the secrets of dog communication or be open to expanding their knowledge in this area in order to respect what Argon has to convey. Argon is a wonderful, loyal dog who needs the right conditions to feel peace and love after all these years. We are looking for a composed, consistent caregiver who leads a quiet, routine lifestyle and does not invite many guests. Argon would feel at home in a house with a garden outside the city and in a quieter district of Warsaw in a larger apartment with a designated rest area. We are looking for a home without children and without other animals for him. Argon is an exceptional dog and we are looking for an equally exceptional person who is ready to build a relationship with the dog even before adoption.

PL·Show original

About Argon

What life with Argon looks like

Argon is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs quiet home without guests, requires behavioral understanding, water-loving, returned twice from adoptions

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Argon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Argon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Argon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Argon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Argon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Argon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Argon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
