Aria

Female · Young · 1 year

- shy - calm animal - does not like to be touched - needs a leash - house-trained Aria came to us as a precautionary measure from our area. Now, the little Maunz is searching for a forever home. Aria is a calm and rather shy cat who needs time to build trust and feel safe in a new environment. She prefers to observe many things from a distance and approaches new people and situations cautiously. Therefore, we are looking for a quiet and understanding home where she can arrive without pressure. In stressful situations, Aria can have anxiety attacks, which is why a quiet household with patient people is particularly important for her. Her future owners should respect her boundaries and give her the opportunity to decide when she wants to make contact. After some settling-in time, she seeks closeness to her trusted people. Aria knows other cats and feels comfortable with fellow animals. Therefore, she would like to move into her new home together with another cat (Macadamio 145_S_26, Peanut 146_S_26, Cashew 996_F_26, Pistazie 147_S_26). Other cats give her security and orientation in everyday life. Aria is house-trained. After a longer and quiet settling-in period, she should definitely be given the opportunity for a leash, as she would like to explore her surroundings outside. A home in a quiet area with safe leash access would therefore be ideal for her. For Aria, we wish for patient and sensitive people who bring understanding for sensitive cats and give her the time she needs to build trust. This animal comes from a pairing with a representative of a breeding mill. The breeding-induced morphological and/or physiological changes in so-called breeding mill breeds can lead to behavioral issues and are associated with physical suffering and pain for the animals. According to § 11b Animal Protection Act, the breeding of such animals is prohibited. One characteristic of this breed is the breeding-induced strong shortening of the facial skull. This leads to a narrowing of the upper airways and tear duct, inward-rotating eyelid margins, overbite, underbite, and crooked bite, which can severely complicate eating. A wide skull makes a natural birth impossible. If the animals suffer anatomically, it is a breeding mill. As advocates for the animals, we reject this. Animal owners who support such breeding act irresponsibly. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Aria

What life with Aria looks like

Aria is a young adult cat waiting at Tierheim Hamburg in Hamburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aria, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aria?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hamburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aria on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aria if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hamburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aria already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aria isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hamburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aria and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
