Saved from the heart: That tender little soul! Sometimes, a single second can determine an entire life. The life of our sweet-as-sugar Podenco-mix puppies almost began with a tragedy: Their heavily pregnant mother was on the verge of losing her babies because their previous owner had planned to terminate the pregnancy just before delivery. Thanks to a courageous veterinarian who refused to comply and our shelter team, which sprang into action immediately and found them homes, these little miracles were able to see the light of day. The lively bunch is now fully vaccinated (including their third vaccination) and officially welcomed into our shelter. Here, they finally have plenty of space to dash around, play, and grow a bit braver every single day. In the coming days, we’ll share new videos here showing how they’re gradually thawing out and rediscovering their joyful, puppy-like spirit! Breed: Podenco (mixed breed)—loyal, sensitive, and intelligent companions. Age: Typical, playful puppies at the perfect age to explore the world. Health: Fully vaccinated (three-dose series), microchipped, and ready for their new life. Temperament: Currently still gentle and cautious, but growing more curious and mobile with each passing day. We’re looking for loving, patient people for these precious souls—folks who’ll give them the time they need to settle in. Since they’ve hardly experienced any external stimuli so far, their new families should enjoy patiently teaching them the basics of doggy life step by step, using positive reinforcement (housebreaking, leash manners, everyday sounds). An experienced first dog to serve as a role model would be a dream—but it’s absolutely not a must.

Arizona ist seit Mitte Oktober in Deutschland auf einer Pflegestelle und lernt hier jeden Tag dazu. Sie kann schon mit Leine und Geschirr spazieren gehen, wenn man ihr Zeit gibt, immer wieder Pausen zu machen, um all die neuen Eindrücke zu verarbeiten. Aktuell wohnt sie sehr städtisch und das ist natürlich ganz schön aufregend. In der kurzen Zeit hat Ari schon bewiesen, dass sie eine neugierige Entdeckerin ist und schnell lernt. Manchmal entscheidet eine einzige Sekunde über ein ganzes Leben. Das Leben unserer zuckersüßen Podenco-Mischlingswelpen begann fast mit einer Tragödie: Ihre hochschwangere Mama stand kurz davor, ihre Babys zu verlieren, weil ihr damaliger Besitzer die Trächtigkeit so kurz vor der Geburt abbrechen wollte. Dank eines mutigen Tierarztes, der sich weigerte, und unserem Tierheim-Team, das sofort einschritt und vermittelte, durften die kleinen Wunder das Licht der Welt erblicken. Die erste Zeit verbrachten die Welpen behütet bei ihrer Mama. Ari und ihre Geschwister haben die ersten Lebensmonate im Tierheim verbracht. Dort haben sie nur liebevolle Menschen kennengelernt und nie Leid erfahren. Aber ihre Welt war nicht groß, ihr Zwinger und ein Auslauf, den sie dort zum Glück ausgiebig nutzen durften.
