adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Arno has found a home! His story: Baia Mare, Romania. Our beautiful Arno is waiting for his ticket to happiness! Arno had only bad luck in his life so far. Found on the streets of Romania and brought to the public animal shelter. Joy and sorrow in one – because here, Arno was safe from the dangers of the street, but he was deprived of his freedom and spent his life behind bars. And since December 2020. Our Arno is an extremely friendly male dog who delights in any attention and cuddles from people. Arno gets along well with female dogs, but with male dogs, he currently doesn’t. We also cannot test his interaction with cats. Children should already be old enough and know responsible and steady handling with dogs. Our handsome Arno is a very sweet young dog. At 5.5 years old, he has a standing height of about 55-60 cm. He comes with us cheerfully to make photos! Arno is looking for a home in the countryside, away from the city, noise, and hustle and bustle, and is happy with a home on the land with a large, fenced-in garden and lots of nature around. He is still in perfect condition and looks forward to long walks, nose work, and lots of play and fun with his people. Additionally, we cannot rule out Herding dog genes based on his appearance. Life in the household is still new to Arno, so he will likely need some time to learn the whole dog lesson. We are, however, convinced that Arno can become a wonderful travel companion with lots of love, patience, and understanding! Arno travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to his new home. He would also be very happy to travel to a foster home! Many thanks to Christiane F.! You gave Arno his name and thus an identity! Many thanks Adriana M.! You support Arno with a monthly sponsorship on his journey!

Vielen Dank an Christiane F.!

About Arno

What life with Arno looks like

Arno is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
