Arqui

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Now, the quartet consists of rather large dogs, and since we are almost always fully occupied, we could only take in two at first, Sultan and the daughter of Princesa. Both found a home together quickly. So, we could then also take care of the mother and son. Argui still wore a studded collar, with a piece of the iron chain still attached. For Princesa, it was similar, but here it was a much too tight collar where not even a small finger could fit between neck and collar. We had the opportunity to let both move into an open area together. This kind of "free run" and togetherness was obviously unfamiliar, but they have immensely enjoyed it. They are so curious about everything around them. Argui has developed very positively so far. At first, he was very insecure and made this very clear to us. However, he always sought my proximity to be stroked. I gave him plenty of time and space to build trust with me. And then came the day, our key experience: I started brushing him, and suddenly he fell and the ice was broken! He loves to cuddle and play. His entire demeanor and aura have changed. His features have become softer and more relaxed. With males, he still barks at first, but can be calmed down quickly with soft and gentle tones. As soon as you take him on a walk on the leash, he exudes a certain sovereignty. Even if you pass by barking dogs with him, he isn't the least bit bothered. With Argui, you get a really great, trusting, active, and clingy companion and friend. With Argui, you should bring a bit of dog experience. This dog touches the heart. He is loyal and true. His love must be earned, which makes him unique. For this incredible dog, we are looking for people who are ready to give him what he so desperately needs and deserves: security and a whole lot of love! Since he has always lived outdoors so far, people who can offer him a home with a garden would be wonderful. He is a huge cuddly bear. His soul wants to finally arrive and learn how wonderful stroking, affection, and trust are.

About Arqui

What life with Arqui looks like

Arqui is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arqui, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arqui?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arqui on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arqui if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arqui already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arqui isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arqui and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
