Adopt Arun

Podenco · Male · Puppy

Arun ID No.: 1043375 Breed: Podenco Canario Age: approx. 02/2023 Gender: male Shoulder height: approx. 64 cm Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Arun – a beautiful Podenco – is looking for his family Arun (approx. 02/2023, approx. 64 cm) is a stunning Podenco Canario who arrived at our Spanish partner shelter TripleA in Marbella at the end of January 2026. He was close to starvation and unchipped—a fate he shares with many sighthounds in Spain at the end of the hunting season. His name means “dawn” and “sun,” and we feel that describes him perfectly. Arun is very calm and composed. He doesn’t bark, jump around wildly, or run—he moves slowly and carefully instead. Although he’s still fearful in certain situations, he isn’t generally afraid of people, and once he recognizes one of the volunteer dog walkers, he really enjoys being petted. However, quick, frantic movements can still startle him. With people he trusts, this charming boy already walks very well on the leash, and since joining a group with other dogs, he’s been warming up much more quickly, as he loves the company of other dogs. In fact, it was only when he was with this group of Podencos, Mastin- and Collie-female dogs—whom he now lives with—that we first saw him run and wag his tail. We’re looking for a home for Arun in a natural setting, preferably not in the city, ideally where another dog already lives.

About Arun

What life with Arun looks like

Arun is a puppy/kitten podenco dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arun, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arun?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arun on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arun if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arun already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arun isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arun and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
