Arween

Labrador Retriever · Male

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Arween was seized from a house where he was kept locked up all day with no access to the outside. He was being kept for illegal breeding purposes (Labrador). He was rescued, along with four other dogs, from a house of horror, which have since been happily adopted. Arween is the shyest of all and needs much peace, love, and time to build confidence and trust in people.💙🐾On his first walk at the animal shelter, despite being scared, he gradually began to sniff around and cautiously explore his surroundings. At first, he walked with his tail tucked between his legs, looking around, and not wanting to move forward. It was difficult for him to move 'freely' and accept cuddles; although he allowed himself to be touched, he was not yet trusting. After several months following his rescue, Arween started to overcome his insecurities. The cautious male dog shows compatibility with other dogs, especially with confident fellow animals, to whom he can look up. He likes friendly dogs that give him guidance. 🐶 Cats are not for Arween. Arween is a dog who needs support when adapting to a new environment, ideally through patient and calm people - and ideally with the friendly company of another dog that guides and serves as a role model. It would help Arween if he could learn certain things from a four-legged companion. 🏠 Quiet walks to slowly and without fear explore the world are suitable for the male dog after a period of adjustment; he does not particularly enjoy intense physical activity or rough play and running. A quote from a volunteer at the animal shelter: “Arween needs time and patience, but with love and a canine companion, he can learn to trust and enjoy life.” Which patient, calm people would like to meet Arween and help him start a new life? 🏡💙 Please note:.

About Arween

What life with Arween looks like

Arween is a adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arween, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arween?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arween on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arween if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arween already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arween isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arween and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
