Adopt Arya
Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 9 years
Arya could live with children aged 10+. She would like to be the only cat in the home and will require outdoor access. Arya is a lovely lady who has really come out of her shell during her time with us here at the shelter. She initially spent a lot of her time hiding away, but has now found her confidence and is always pleased to see our staff and volunteers. Now that she is comfortable, she also quickly makes friends with new people – often approaching them to be made a fuss of even when she’s just met them! She loves Lick-e-lix treats and these really helped us to convince her to trust us and let her guard down. She also loves catnip and will happily roll around in a pile of it. She enjoys having an explore of our cattery and will engage with enrichment such as lickimats, slow feeders and scatter feeding. It has been an absolute pleasure to see Arya transform from a worried, shy and timid girl to a confident and friendly cat who seeks attention from her humans. We have no doubt that once in the safety and security of a forever home, she will only continue to go from strength-to-strength and will reveal more and more of her true, sweet nature to her forever family, she has already done so well being brave and adjusting to the strange shelter environment! Arya’s new family will need to understand that it did take her a little while to settle in and build her confidence when she first arrived, so she will need time, patience and gentle encouragement whilst she finds her feet in her new home. We know that with a little TLC she will soon be showing her forever family what a sweet, loving and affectionate girl she is, Lick-E-Lix treats will certainly help too! Arya has previously lived with another cat who she didn’t get on with, so we feel she would be happiest as the only cat in the home. However, she did live with a dog who she didn’t mind, so she could potentially live with a calm, well-mannered dog again with slow, careful introductions. This lovely girl has been a pleasure to spend time with during her stay with us, we can’t wait to see her continue to let her guard down and live her best life spoilt rotten in her forever home. Arya has required ear drops for an ear infection whilst in our care. Whilst now resolved, any potential rehomers should be aware that this is likely to be classed as a pre-existing condition and be excluded from pet insurance. The rehoming team will discuss Arya’s veterinary history in more detail with any successful applicants.
