Adopt ÅSE

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

TRENGER ROLIG HJEM (born around January 2024) ÅSE is a beautiful lady who needs a lot of love and attention. She clearly shows what she wants and has good body language. The best thing is to lie on the couch and cuddle and play for hours, and preferably sleep on an empty couch as well. She likes to hold on extra tightly if you try to put her down, and is quick to climb back up and get comfortable or climb onto your shoulder and wrap around your neck or back. She is very cautious at first and takes a lot of time to explore the surroundings. It took her over a month before she had explored the entire foster home, but now she is safe in all rooms. She also lets you know when she wants to go to her own room to use the litter box or wants to run around and play. She really likes to cuddle and be right in your face and often washes you a bit on the ear or puts her nose all the way into your ear so you can hear her purring, and you can expect to get a little wet because she also drools a bit. ÅSE will probably thrive best with a calm couple, without children or with adult children who are very patient and have time for her, and a free couch where she can lie for hours at a time if she has the opportunity. She also likes to lie on top of the cat tree and look out the window and follow what's happening outside, but has not shown any great interest in going out, so she can probably thrive well as an indoor cat as long as she is sufficiently stimulated and has access to attention, cuddles, and the opportunity to watch what's happening outside.

About ÅSE

What life with ÅSE looks like

ÅSE is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Bergen in Bergen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Note from the shelter: Needs very patient owner and quiet home environment

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting ÅSE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ÅSE?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Bergen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ÅSE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ÅSE if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Bergen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ÅSE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ÅSE isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Bergen early rather than rehoming privately; they know ÅSE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
