RASMUS

Domestic Shorthair · Unknown · Kitten · 3 months

RASMUS was found as a small kitten in 2017, under some rocks along with two siblings. He has needed a lot of socialization, and is still a cautious cat. Once he feels safe, he is friendly, talks and meows a lot, and is sometimes affectionate. He now lives with another cat in a foster home, but the foster home thinks he would fit well in a home without other cats, and that his socialization with people would have gone faster. He is very fond of food and treats, and comes up when there is a promise of something good. He likes to play, especially with laser and fishing rod, and he makes many meowing sounds when he plays. He likes to sit and watch life, the weather and birds. RASMUS must be an indoor cat for a long time, but can have access to a secure balcony, and eventually have good and safe outdoor opportunities when he is ready.

NO·Show original

About RASMUS

What life with RASMUS looks like

RASMUS is a medium-sized puppy/kitten domestic shorthair cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Bergen in Bergen.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

Note from the shelter: Must be indoor cat initially, needs socialization, may benefit from single-cat household

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting RASMUS, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about RASMUS?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Bergen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw RASMUS on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt RASMUS if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Bergen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is RASMUS already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if RASMUS isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Bergen early rather than rehoming privately; they know RASMUS and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
