Adopt Ash

Mixed Breed · Male

Description: 🤍 Ash – a sensitive heart on quiet paws 🤍 Ash is an incredibly affectionate tomcat who loves being close to his people. Once he has built up trust, he enjoys cuddling sessions fully and shows how much love he carries inside him. 🐾💛 At the same time, Ash is a sensitive boy who needs time to feel secure. New people and situations can initially unsettle him. If things move too quickly for him or if he feels cornered, he signals with a small, clear "stop" that he still needs some space. However, with patience, calmness, and understanding, one quickly learns to read his body language, and then he begins to open up gradually. For Ash, we therefore seek a quiet home without children, ideally with a maximum of two people who bring a lot of patience and give him the time he needs. People who respect his subtle signals and provide him with security will be rewarded with a very loving and loyal companion. Additionally, Ash has chronic ear problems, which is also why his little crooked ear developed. A unique characteristic that sets him apart and will always accompany him. (Note: On some pictures, his crooked ear is not yet visible as it developed over time and was not present from birth.) He does not necessarily have to live alone, though any potential companionship should be introduced very gently and with ample time so that he can get used to it at his own pace. Ash is a wonderful soul who has already experienced a lot. And that's exactly why we wish for him a home where he can finally arrive, feel safe, and simply be loved. 🤍🐱 Please agree on an appointment to meet Ash. For this, please first fill out the self-assessment form under the tab "Adoption". Contact:

About Ash

What life with Ash looks like

Ash is a adult mixed breed animal waiting at Tierschutzverein Buxtehude in Buxtehude.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Ash far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ash, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ash?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Buxtehude handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ash on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ash if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Buxtehude will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ash already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ash isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Buxtehude early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ash and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
