Adopt Eddie

Mixed Breed · Male

Description: 🤍 Our silent fighter Eddie 🤍 Eddie came to us as a stray, full of caution towards a world that hadn't treated him kindly before. For he faced a harsh fate: an accident resulted in the loss of his right front leg. The path to healing was long, and during this time, his fear of people and fellow animals grew even stronger. At first, Eddie was almost invisible. He spent his time in hiding, observing the world from a safe distance, and keeping his distance from anything that scared him. But with much patience and without pressure, he began to trust slowly. Today, Eddie allows his closest companions to approach him cautiously – real cuddles, which for him represent a significant step and a quiet proof of his bravery. With strangers, Eddie remains cautious and prefers finding a safe haven. But those who look closely can see how much he has already accomplished. His development is impressive and shows how much strength lies within this silent soul. We wish Eddie a very calm home, ideally with an experienced cat person who brings lots of time, patience, and understanding. A cozy sofa and a secured garden would be a dream come true for him. Due to his history, Eddie can live alone without fellow animals when provided with sufficient affection. Ideally, a home in a suitable for apartment living situation with a controlled outdoor area (cat-proofed garden or terrace) would be perfect. Eddie is something special. Not only because of his handicap, but also because of his courage, his subtle progress, and his big heart that slowly, but sincerely opens up. We hope very much that somewhere there lives the person who accepts Eddie exactly as he is – and shows him that security still waits even after tough paths. 🤍🐾 If you would like to meet Eddie, we would gladly arrange a visit. Please fill out the Self-Declaration Form under the "Adoption" tab first. Contact:

About Eddie

What life with Eddie looks like

Eddie is a large adult mixed breed animal waiting at Tierschutzverein Buxtehude in Buxtehude.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Eddie far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eddie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eddie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Buxtehude handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eddie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eddie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Buxtehude will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eddie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eddie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Buxtehude early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eddie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
