adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Askaja has found a home! Her story: Wunderschönen Askaja – what have you all endured?! We found you in the culling and saved you before you lost your life. Street hounds caught you on the street and brought you to the culling. You are now in a shelter and in safety, and at the beginning, you really tried to forget what you experienced, although you were unsure and still allowed people to get closer. But in the shelter, no one has time to individually care for the dogs, and so Askaja sits uncertain in the corner. The pretty female dog is approximately 2 years old and thus has her whole life ahead of her, in which she can learn how wonderful life can be. At 63 cm and 25 kg, she is a large female dog. Through her initially positive and hesitant, but still approachable behavior, we are sure that with enough empathy and patience, Askaja will eventually enjoy the affection of her human family. However, it is essential that she gets out of the shelter. For the beautiful female dog, we are searching for a home in a rural area. Her new people should already have experience with traumatized dogs, so they can make her life as easy as possible. Of course, a foster home would also be a great gain for her. Regarding Askaja's breed, we cannot give a precise answer, which is why we cannot say whether a herding dog might be hiding in the pretty mouse. Therefore, it is important that the future people familiarize themselves with these dogs and their characteristics. After a positive assessment, who would like to give our Askaja a chance and show her how wonderful a dog life can be? A foster home that helps her on the path to a better life would be a great start. Many thanks to Fam. Bönning and Thea for taking on her namingship. Many thanks, Vanessa R.! You support Askaja with a monthly paternity! As of: 02.09. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Askaja hat ihr Zuhause gefunden! Ihre Geschichte: Wunderschönen Askaja – was hast du alles erleben müssen?! Vielen Dank Vanessa R.! Du unterstützt Askaja mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! Stand: 02.09.2024

About Askaja

What life with Askaja looks like

Askaja is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Askaja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Askaja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Askaja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Askaja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Askaja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Askaja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Askaja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
