Adopt Aslan

Anatolian Shepherd Dog · Male · Young · 2 years

Aslan is a big, cheeky goofball with a big heart. At 2 years old he still hasn’t realized his size and strength. His silly, puppy-like side comes out in play, especially if it involves his favourite broccoli toy. He came to our care via the dog warden so we don’t know if he’s ever been in a home before. He does keep his kennel clean though, so a quick refresher of his housetraining should be all he needs. We think he’ll be happy being left alone for a few hours too. Car travel is a bit of a work in progress. With a ramp and some toys to entice him he will get in but he’d still love a little bit of additional training to make this a really positive experience for him. Aslan is looking for a home with a heart as big as he is, as well as the ability to give him the calm, confident guidance he needs. With the right match you’ll get an affectionate addition to a home who will make you laugh with his antics. Aslan is a super boy who is larger than life in both personality and appearance! He loves people but can get a bit over-the-top and mouthy when things get too exciting so he’d ideally love an adult only home. Older teenagers who are happy with him could be ok too, it just needs to be the right match. Dogs are another case of needing the right match. He has shared his kennel here and he could live with another dog in his new home. This would be dependent on meets in centre and it must be the right match for both dogs involved.

About Aslan

What life with Aslan looks like

Aslan is a large young adult anatolian shepherd dog dog waiting at Dogs Trust Evesham in Evesham.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aslan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aslan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Evesham handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aslan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aslan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Evesham will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aslan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aslan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Evesham early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aslan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
