Aslan

Unknown

Aslan is a handsome and friendly Anatolian Shepherd who has a lot of affection to offer. This large, gentle giant arrived at the shelter with his girlfriend Peri after their owner moved to an apartment that unfortunately could no longer accommodate these two XXL dogs. Aslan is a friendly, affable, kind, and cuddly dog. Behind this friendly face is also a temperament faithful to his breed. Aslan can be protective and bark when there are people around his home. Watching over his environment is a big part of his habits! Aslan has always lived outdoors. We are looking for a home for him with enough space and a well-fenced yard. The fence is not just a suggestion! Aslan may be tempted to test the infrastructure and find an escape to explore the world. With him, you will need to quickly have the reflex to close the gate behind you! Aslan also seems to have trouble with loneliness. He will probably need availability from his next adopter. Aslan's relationships with other dogs have not yet been tested at the shelter. According to the information we have, he may react to the presence of his peers. On the other hand, Aslan is very close to his girlfriend Peri. As for cats, Aslan tends to chase them and does not seem to be their best friend. A home without a cat would be preferable. Aslan has already known a life with children. We think that cohabitation could be possible with respectful children, able to understand the needs of a dog and respect the essential rules for his arrival in the household. Aslan arrived at the shelter a bit thin. A few extra pounds would do him a world of good! He also has damaged teeth and some tartar. This really very kind dog hopes to find a home where life will be quiet and made up of reassuring and comfortable gentle routines. Yes, you will need to plan a bit of space in the house, in the garden, and in the car to accommodate this giant. But you will especially need to plan space in your heart because Aslan is likely to take a big part of it too!

FR·Show original

About Aslan

What life with Aslan looks like

Aslan is a large adult dog waiting at SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aslan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aslan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aslan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aslan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Aslan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aslan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aslan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
