Asteris (Αστέρης)

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

At one point, a lively, playful little star leapt boldly from the sky and landed spectacularly in our arms. Since then, the sky has become just a bit darker, our hearts much brighter, and everyday life in our shelter has become a lot spicier. Because our fine and spirited fellow doesn’t miss an opportunity to dive into everything. Tender, strong, playful, and a bit of a troublemaker... Although he can sometimes cause a bit of chaos with his clever antics, our boy is incredibly sweet and affectionate with people. And even though he often creates quite a stir with his smartness, he still has devoted fans who know that as soon as he’s adopted, he’ll become an exemplary companion! What could he possibly be missing? Why, the chance to prove it, of course! Asterakis was born in August 2015, is neutered, and weighs around 30 kilos. He was abandoned at our shelter inside a box along with his four little siblings when they were about 40 days old. Stray Planet—Adoptable Animal Shelter, Thessaloniki. If you’re interested in adopting him, send an SMS to 6970195672, write “I’m interested in Asteris,” and we’ll give you a call shortly, or send us a message through our page at (All animals at Stray Planet are available for adoption as required by law).

EL·Show original

About Asteris (Αστέρης)

What life with Asteris (Αστέρης) looks like

Asteris (Αστέρης) is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs Voice in Athens.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Asteris (Αστέρης), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Asteris (Αστέρης)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Voice handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Asteris (Αστέρης) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Asteris (Αστέρης) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Voice will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Asteris (Αστέρης) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Asteris (Αστέρης) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Voice early rather than rehoming privately; they know Asteris (Αστέρης) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
