Adopt Asterix

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 7 years

Asterix came to us from an intervention, from a place where a dozen dogs were kept. He didn't know what grass, walks, and good food were, and most importantly, contact with a human. He stayed away from people for a long time. As soon as he saw a leash, he immediately ran in the opposite direction. Volunteers started working with him. Now he is less afraid, but still cautious. He allows being petted by people he knows. He also goes on walks. He feels more secure in the company of other dogs. He is afraid of loud noises and sudden movements. Asterix is a small dog with a wonderful coat. The new home should be aware that it may be necessary to work with a behaviorist. We are asking for a home that he has never had. One where he will be able to trust. Ready to work with a dog. He deserves it. Born in 2019. Vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered.

Asterix trafił do nas z interwencji, z miejsca gdzie przebywało kilkanaście psów. Asterix to mały psiak o cudownym umaszczeniu. Przyszły Dom powinien liczyć się z tym, że może być konieczna praca z behawiorystą. Prosimy o Dom, którego nigdy nie miał. Taki, w którym będzie mógł zaufać. Gotowego na pracę z psiakiem. On na to zasługuje. Urodzony w 2019 roku. Zaszczepiony, zaczipowany i wykastrowany. About Asterix

What life with Asterix looks like

Asterix is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Radom in Radom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Asterix, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Asterix?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Radom handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Asterix on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Asterix if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Radom will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Asterix already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Asterix isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Radom early rather than rehoming privately; they know Asterix and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
