Astor

Lagotto Romagnolo · Male · Adult · 7 years

Astor - a Lagotto Romagnolo is looking for his forever home The story of Astor shows how expectations about dogs are often based solely on their breed and how unfair that can be. Astor was once bought from a breeder, but when he didn't meet the expectations of his owners after several years, he was simply put on the street. He lived there for over a year, cared for by attentive neighbors who made sure he didn't starve. When we learned about his fate, we took him in - and today Astor shows what he really is: a wonderful, balanced and loving companion. He is well-groomed, knows life in the house, is housebroken and even likes to sleep with you. In the pack, he shows himself as social and compatible - an all-around pleasant dog with great qualities. ⸻ Typical Lagotto Romagnolo - yet so Astor The Lagotto Romagnolo breed is considered intelligent, eager to learn and people-oriented. Many of these dogs are playful, sensitive and form a close bond with their owners. Their often curly coat and cheerful nature also make them special. But: every dog is an individual. Astor also brings many of these wonderful qualities - but he wants people who don't put him in a box, but accept him as he is. ⸻ Last year, Astor was diagnosed with heartworm, which was treated immediately. An upcoming check-up will confirm the success of the treatment. Update: Today, on April 26th, Astor had his follow-up appointment at the vet. It was checked whether the therapy against the heartworm was successful - and we have wonderful news: The test is negative! For us it's a day full of joy and relief. Astor has made this important step and now we hope all the more that he will soon find his own home, where he can arrive and be happy. ⸻ Astor at a glance: • Breed: Lagotto Romagnolo • Date of birth: January 2, 2019 • Size/weight: approx. 43 cm / 14 kg • Character: friendly, social, balanced ⸻ Astor travels with: • Serbian pet passport (non-EU) • Microchip & complete vaccinations • Dewormed & treated against parasites • Neutered • 4D test negative • Rabies titer test (entry requirements met) 📅 Ready to travel from August 2026 ⸻ What we wish for Astor: People with heart and brains who give him stability, security and genuine affection. People who choose him not just because of his breed, but see him as an individual - and show him how beautiful a dog's life can be. ⸻ Our dogs travel legally and transparently via TRACES NT into the EU. ⸻ Astor is waiting for his people... Maybe you are exactly the person who is missing in his life? Then contact us with a meaningful inquiry and tell us something about your living situation - so that Astor can finally arrive. 💛 🌐 More information: www.medaev.de

💛 🌐 Weitere Infos: www.medaev.de

About Astor

What life with Astor looks like

Astor is a adult lagotto romagnolo dog waiting at Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Astor, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Astor?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Astor on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Astor if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Astor already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Astor isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Astor and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
