Adopt Astrid

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 9 years

Astrid came to the cat shelter for rehoming. Astrid is a social female cat who is very happy around people. What Astrid loves the most is being with a person and lying in the person's lap. As soon as someone sits down in the room, she is already up in the lap and purring loudly. Astrid knows what she wants and needs to decide herself when it's time for a nap. Astrid loves to be out in the playroom and explore. When it's time for a break, Astrid runs out of the room at full speed like a little cannonball. It's hard not to laugh when you see her zooming by. Once outside in the playroom, she often follows the person to keep an eye on what's happening, investigate every little corner or lie spread out on the floor or on a chair. If someone starts talking to her, she quickly comes forward with her tail straight up to greet them. Astrid is looking for a home with someone who is home a lot because she wants a lot of company. We think that Astrid's future home needs to have a certain cat routine where she can get help to maintain her weight and take care of her fur. She also wants to be a single cat in her future home.

About Astrid

What life with Astrid looks like

Astrid is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Uppsala Katthem in Uppsala.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Astrid, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Astrid?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Uppsala Katthem handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Astrid on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Astrid if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Uppsala Katthem will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Astrid already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Astrid isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Uppsala Katthem early rather than rehoming privately; they know Astrid and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
