Titi

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Breed: mixed breed Age: March 15, 2018 Sex: male dog (neutered) Height: 57 cm Weight: 24 kg Location: animal shelter Berga/Spain Titi came to our animal shelter in October 2022 following a seizure by local authorities and has been officially cleared for adoption since July 2023. That really means something in Spain! He and eight other dogs were kept in horrific conditions on a company property. Consequently, they arrived at our animal shelter both physically and mentally traumatized—completely neglected, in poor physical condition, fearful, some with open wounds and full of worms. By now, the little guy has recovered and is officially permitted by the authorities to search for his forever family. It was a long battle with his former owner, but it was absolutely worth it for Titi! Titi is still a fearful and insecure dog who finds it extremely difficult to trust humans. However, he improves a little bit every day. In the exercise yard, he doesn’t allow himself to be touched, but he goes for a walk every day with our volunteers. On-leash, he’s doing really well now and can even relax. When being leashed inside his kennel, he’s scared—but he would never lunge forward; he’d rather hide in the farthest corner. He gets along perfectly fine with his fellow animals. Having a calm, confident only dog in his new home would greatly help him overcome his insecurity. We hope Titi finds a quiet family who will accept him just as he is and give him all the time he needs. We’re confident he’ll continue shedding his fears, but dog training classes will be necessary. Titi will leave for his new home microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, tested for Mediterranean diseases, and equipped with an EU pet passport.

Das mag in Spanien wirklich was heißen!

About Titi

What life with Titi looks like

Titi is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierfreunde Europa e.V. in Simonswald.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Titi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Titi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierfreunde Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Titi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Titi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierfreunde Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Titi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Titi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierfreunde Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Titi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
