Augustus

Unknown

Augustus is a neutered male rabbit approximately 3 years old. Unfortunately, his previous life was not characterized by responsible ownership: he was surrendered to our shelter along with other rabbits due to unplanned breeding. Now a new chapter is to begin for Augustus. We wish for the handsome fellow a home where he can be a rabbit - with plenty of space to hop, explore and retreat and above all with loving companions by his side. Augustus should no longer be alone. Together with one or more suitable rabbit partners he can enjoy the company that is so important for these social animals. If you would like to give Augustus a safe, loving home and the chance at a beautiful, appropriate rabbit life, you can get to know him at our shelter. Maybe his new home is waiting for him at your doorstep. 💙🐇

DE·Show original

About Augustus

What life with Augustus looks like

Augustus is a adult rabbit waiting at Landestierschutzverein Steiermark in Graz.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Augustus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Augustus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Landestierschutzverein Steiermark handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Augustus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Augustus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Landestierschutzverein Steiermark will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Augustus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Augustus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Landestierschutzverein Steiermark early rather than rehoming privately; they know Augustus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
