Aywa

Mixed Breed · Female

Aywa is a calm King Python who prefers to relax and sleep during the day. At night, she becomes active and likes to explore her terrarium. When handled, she behaves differently depending on the situation: she is often calm and laid-back, but can also be a bit grumpy at times. With a respectful and calm approach, she can be handled well. Aywa eats frozen prey without any problems and sheds regularly and without difficulty. She is healthy and displays normal behavior. For Aywa, we wish for a well-structured terrarium with multiple hiding spots so she can feel safe and comfortable at any time. The new terrarium should be at least 140 × 70 × 105 cm in size and should be set up to meet her needs.

DE·Show original

About Aywa

What life with Aywa looks like

Aywa is a large adult mixed breed animal waiting at Stiftung Tierschutzzentrum Thurgau in Switzerland.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Aywa far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aywa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aywa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stiftung Tierschutzzentrum Thurgau handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aywa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aywa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stiftung Tierschutzzentrum Thurgau will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aywa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aywa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stiftung Tierschutzzentrum Thurgau early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aywa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
