Adopt Babiole

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 15 years

Babiole, born in May 2011, was captured by the SACPA (animal shelter) in July 2011, arrived at the association on August 30, 2011. Under his false appearance of a friendly cat, as he purrs like crazy in the cage, he is a little wild cat that socializes very slowly. Patience, he will be a very affectionate cat. A calm social environment is desired. Vaccinated for feline distemper and rhinotracheitis, tested negative and microchipped. On October 27, 2011: neutered. He progresses slowly, very shy. He needs a family that is quite present so that he does not get used to retreating towards the cats and not towards humans. November 24, 2011: returned to the cage for socialization and in a room with more human presence: big progress! Babiole loves cuddles, accepts kisses and wants more, comes towards me... Now accepts being picked up in arms, going slowly. December 25, 2011: released into freedom. Phew, he keeps his progress. He is a lovely cat, very affectionate, he loves head-to-head, kisses... Indeed he is afraid and hisses before, not always... He panics quickly at new noises, new places... But when he gains confidence, he is... Adorable! January 2012: he comes towards me, while I am standing, without food... Just by inviting him with my hand for a cuddle. January 17, 2012: first feline leukemia test. January 26, 2012: this evening, for the first time, he did not hiss at a stranger, even let him approach his hand without running away. February 8, 2012: retest for feline leukemia. March 18, 2012: placed with Delphine. He will be missed... March 23, 2012: back with Christine. Delphine confirms that he is adorable but that a secure apartment will be needed. Babiole is affectionate but cautious. He loves to settle on my stomach, even near my face, but he can panic when I walk towards him looking at him. Adoption possible but calm environment. With time, has become very shy. 2017: feline leukemia PCR negative. 2018: urinary stones. Moved to cage 2 for special croquettes. 2020 the croquettes do not work, he gets bored in cage 2, and fights with the males in the negative sector: returned to positive sector with his friends Flocon, Faribole etc... To follow Babiole on the forum. Babiole was sponsored by Diane from April 2016 until the end of 2017. Thank you Diane!

8/02/12 : rappel leucose. Merci Diane !

About Babiole

What life with Babiole looks like

Babiole is a small senior mixed breed cat waiting at Les Chats du hasard in Saint-Orens-de-Gameville.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Babiole, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Babiole?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Les Chats du hasard handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Babiole on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Babiole if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Les Chats du hasard will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Babiole already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Babiole isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Les Chats du hasard early rather than rehoming privately; they know Babiole and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
