Adopt Babs

Unknown · Young · 3 years

Meet Babs, a beautiful Sphynx girl with a truly special story. Found roaming the streets as a heavily pregnant stray, Babs has now been given the safety and care she deserves in a loving foster home, where she is raising her babies in comfort. Once her kittens are fully weaned and independent, Babs will be ready to find her forever home from mid-July. Babs is a gentle, affectionate girl who enjoys human company and the warmth of a cosy blanket or lap. Like all Sphynx cats, she has unique care requirements, including regular skin and ear cleaning and protection from the cold. For this reason, we are looking for adopters who either have previous experience with the breed or who have taken the time to thoroughly research the additional needs of Sphynx cats. After everything she has been through, Babs deserves a safe, understanding home where she will be cherished as part of the family. If you think you could offer this lovely girl the forever home she deserves, we’d love to hear from you.

About Babs

What life with Babs looks like

Babs is a medium-sized young adult cat waiting at Thornberry Animal Sanctuary in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Babs, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Babs?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Thornberry Animal Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Babs on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Babs if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Thornberry Animal Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Babs already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Babs isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Thornberry Animal Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Babs and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
