Tiggy

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Adult · 10 years

Hello, I’m Tiggy, and I’m a lovely older lady looking for my new forever home. I find myself at Raystede due to having stress-related urinary issues in my previous home. My personality: I can be shy initially and take some time to settle into new environments and get used to new people. My face gives off grumpy vibes but I’m really not! When I feel safe and comfortable, I am ever so loving and affectionate. I love being fussed over and will rub my head against your hand for more. I also enjoyed sitting on my previous owner’s lap a lot. I have a very gentle nature and would like a calm home to continue thriving in. Children: I did not cope well living with a child in my previous home and is likely the reason I was stressed. I would love for my new home to be adult-only or with much older teenagers. It would be ideal if my new home had no visiting children either. Other animals: I will need to be the only pet in the home please. Additional needs: I’ve always been an indoor cat, but would love a garden of my own to potter about in. I will need a slow introduction to the outside world and to live away from busy roads to keep me safe. I’m not the most active girl, so it’s likely I’d just have a little sniff around and do a spot of sunbathing! Speaking of not being active, I am rather rotund! So, the staff have put me on a weight-loss diet. My new owners will need to continue with my weight-loss regime to help me reach a healthy weight. I love to have company and would be a wonderful addition to a home where people are around to spend time with me. Could you offer me a lap to curl up on? Love, Tiggy xxx

About Tiggy

What life with Tiggy looks like

Tiggy is a adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Raystede Centre in Ringmer.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tiggy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tiggy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Raystede Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tiggy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tiggy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Raystede Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tiggy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tiggy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Raystede Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tiggy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
