Bailey

Mixed Breed · Female

Nine years of life lie behind Bailey – years that were certainly not always easy. Recently, the pretty mixed-breed female dog was simply left at the gate of our Romanian partner shelter – all alone and apparently unwanted. Our animal welfare friends took Bailey in and now the dog is ready to begin a new chapter: in a home where she will finally be loved and appreciated. Bailey is a warm-hearted, cheerful, and intelligent female dog who is affectionate with both women and men. She is not the type of dog that immediately wags her tail for every stranger or jumps into their arms. Instead, she first attentively observes who stands before her – but as soon as she realizes that someone is well-disposed towards her, she becomes more relaxed and shows her affectionate, cuddly side. With other dogs, Bailey gets along well and currently shares her enclosure without issue with three fellow animals. She often takes on the role of the "boss" and can show herself quite assertive when necessary – without becoming aggressive. She just knows what she wants. On her first outing outside of the shelter, Bailey was still somewhat unsure and cautious. The many new sounds, smells, and sensations were unfamiliar to her and made her a bit afraid. But in familiar surroundings, she displays what she really is: a joyful, active female dog who loves her people, enjoys spending time with them, and clearly relishes cuddles. For Bailey, we hope for a rural home with people who approach her with patience, calm, and understanding. A stable daily routine, clear routines, and a sensitive environment would do her a world of good. Her new family should enjoy growing together with Bailey and accompanying her on her journey to a happy life – with humor, heart, and the ability to smile over small quirks. If you can imagine granting Bailey this home and showing her that life still holds many beautiful sides, then we are very pleased to receive your message introducing your family. Perhaps you are exactly the person Bailey has been waiting for these past few years. Bailey currently resides in our partner shelter in Romania and can be neutered, vaccinated, treated for internal and external parasites, and microchipped before leaving for her new home.

About Bailey

What life with Bailey looks like

Bailey is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hope for lost Souls e.V. in Kleinostheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bailey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bailey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope for lost Souls e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bailey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bailey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope for lost Souls e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bailey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bailey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope for lost Souls e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bailey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
