Adopt Bailey

Persian · Male · Adult · 5 years

Bailey came into our care following welfare concerns in his home. Bailey understandably found his new environment overwhelming to begin with, often choosing to hide away and may be vocally defensive of his space. However, he has become more comfortable in his surroundings and is now often seen quietly relaxing on a soft blanket, watching the world go by. Bailey isn’t ready for physical affection yet and will need calm, patient adopters where he can build confidence without any pressure with. While we haven’t yet seen his affectionate side, the other cats he arrived with have all grown in confidence and shown affection once settled, so we hope Bailey may follow in time. Any progress should be seen as a bonus rather than an expectation. To help Bailey feel more relaxed during his stay, we’ve started him on Gabapentin which has been beneficial for his wellbeing. This medication would need to be continued in his new home (we hope once he becomes comfortable in his environment he can be weaned off). Due to his limited experience outdoors, Bailey is looking for a quiet, more rural home where he can safely learn about the outside world in time and as his breed may be prone to certain health issues in the future Bailey’s new owners will need to be prepared to manage these with the help of a vet if they arise. Do you have a quiet home and the patience to help our shy boy?

About Bailey

What life with Bailey looks like

Bailey is a large adult persian cat waiting at RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bailey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bailey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bailey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bailey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bailey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bailey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bailey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
