Balthasar
Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten
Male found animal/indoor living FIV-positive Born approx. 2021 Neutered yes/[] no In shelter since 20.07.2026 ________________________ We test every cat via rapid test for FIV („Cat Aids“, info here!) and FeLV („Cat Leukosis“, info here!) and clarify the status. We inform here about the risk of FIP disease („Belly inflammation“). ________________________ Balthasar was secured unneutered and marked by territorial fights in Stadtallendorf. He seems to know people, but no home could be found. Balthasar is a characterful, present tomcat. He loves attention, is self-confident and shows even if something is too much for him. He likes to be in the center of attention, he does not necessarily need to be stroked, the mere presence of his people is enough for him most of the time. We are looking for a home for Balthasar that can devote him a lot of company and time. He is - unfortunately not untypical for unneutered stray tomcats - FIV positive tested. FIV belongs to the family of retroviruses. It can trigger a disease in cats that resembles human HIV, which is why FIV is also called „Cat AIDS“. Due to the weakened immune system, it can happen that the cat can no longer fight off infections from a certain point on, then it comes to increased colds or gum inflammation under certain circumstances. FIV is not transmissible to humans or other animal species, but only under certain circumstances, e.g. by a deep muscle bite to other cats (not by droplet infection). → More information on the FIV diagnosis is available here! Balthasar shows himself rather uninterested in other cats. If they try to make contact with him, he reacts very dismissive. We believe that he was not able to make good experiences with other cats during his time on the street. Balthasar would be very happy as a single prince and a lot of time with his people. Even with another FIV positive conspecific, who does not need him and certainly does not pressurize him, we can imagine him. Due to the FIV diagnosis, Balthasar will not be placed in unsecured outdoor access. A safe outdoor area, balcony or similar free seat, on which he can spend a lot of time, would be very important to him. We wish the young treasure that he will soon find a really great home! ________________________ (Stand 29.10.2026) (Click on the pictures to see them in full size!) The description reflects the current status, but we reserve the right to make changes or reassessments. It can always happen that an animal shows itself differently or develops differently both here in the animal shelter and in the new home due to changed circumstances. männlich Fundtier/Wohnungshaltung FIV-positiv Geboren ca. 2021 EKH Kastriert ja / [] nein Im Tierheim seit 20.07.2026 ________________________ Wir testen jede Katze per Schnelltest auf FIV („Katzen-Aids“, Infos hier!) und FeLV („Katzen-Leukose“, Infos hier!) und klären über den Status auf.
