adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Bambi has finally found his people! His story: Bambi – When the name isn't the program… In the fairy tale with the same name, Bambi is a shy and lonely little deer who must find his way in a big forest and grow up. Our Bambi is a beautiful, large male dog with a heart even bigger, which he would love to give away forever. But he still needs to learn how to navigate the big, wide human world. He loves women the most, has a bit of respect for some men, but with enough time and patience, the will for friendship and bonding is there. Yes, men can be great buddies too. Otherwise, Bambi likes pretty much everyone and everything and gets along well with children, cats, and other dogs. He sometimes meets other male dogs a bit ruffly, but that can be worked on. So much for growing up… Bambi is not a dog who craves action. He loves the peace and enjoys lying around relaxed. The big guy doesn't have many demands. A garden where he could lie in the sun comfortably would be especially great for Bambi. Bambi probably has herding dog genes in him, because his calm, inwardly peaceful, and initially a bit skeptical nature suggests it. Accordingly, it can be assumed that Bambi, despite being around 2 years old, is still not fully grown up. We are therefore looking for experienced people who can give Bambi the time and peace he needs to finally find a permanent home. He must leave his current home completely unmerited due to a medical emergency of the owner, and we would be so happy if he were soon taken in by a loving family, so that in his life, just like in the fairy tale with the same name, a happy ending can finally be achieved! Bambi originally came from Fantanele, Romania. His entire puppyhood was spent in the shelter until early April of the following year, when he finally found his greatest happiness and traveled to his foster home in Düsseldorf. Many thanks to Maria G., who gave Bambi his name! As of: 01.06. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 01.06.2024

About Bambi

What life with Bambi looks like

Bambi is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bambi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bambi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bambi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bambi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bambi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bambi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bambi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
