Bambo

Male · Adult · 5 years

Bambo was supposed to be a sweet, loved, and devoted labrador, but turned out to be a dog of the type with a significant mix of TTB genes. The guy ended up in an animal shelter due to biting and resource guarding. The warm sofa instantly turned into a cold kennel, as a dog who was supposed to be unpredictable. He wasn't advertised for adoption for a long time and went on walks with a handful of volunteers. For months we observed Bambo's behavior, looking for every trait that led to the decision to give the dog away. Bambo showed us his best side on Paluch, he didn't growl, didn't bite, didn't signal an attack - each time he greeted us by jumping on the crate and covering us with a bunch of kisses, jumping into the sky with joy at our sight. BUT it doesn't mean he won't bite. He tested us, our boundaries, while building a relationship with us. On a walk he is obedient, recallable, eager to learn, expand knowledge, and thirsty for play and activity. He behaves like a big puppy who joyfully bounces and pushes his head under the hand for pets. Sometimes he suddenly rushes towards another dog, although in most cases of group walks he does very well and can establish a positive contact with other dogs. Bambo quickly becomes attached, takes people into the herd. At the same time, he's super responsive, works beautifully, but you can see that emotions are pulling him. In these emotions, he jumps on a person and sometimes bites. Bambo is already ready for the next step, ready to find a person who will love him with his strengths, as well as his weaknesses. He is not suitable as a first dog, absolutely not suitable for a home with children, younger or older, we also prefer a home without other animals, and most of all an experienced person in relationships with dogs that may show difficulties related to aggression or resource guarding. Keep in mind that in the past he wasn't a dog with impeccable behavior and for some reason bit. However, we believe that there is someone in the world for Bambo. ♥️ Bambo will require more walks, meetings, and a home visit.

About Bambo

What life with Bambo looks like

Bambo is a large adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: History of biting and resource guarding - requires experienced handler

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bambo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bambo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bambo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bambo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bambo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bambo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bambo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
