Bane

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Bane, a young, affectionate male dog with a gentle nature, has been at the shelter since September 2026. He is estimated to have been born around September 2024 and is approximately 50-59 cm tall and 20-24 kg in weight. Learn more about Bane in our videos! Bane was found with two other young dogs on the streets near an automobile fair. They were dangerously close to the road and were significantly underweight when they were taken in. He has been very friendly and easy to handle from the start. You can find more information about how the dogs end up at the shelter and answers to general questions in our animal welfare FAQ. Bane is also very people-oriented at the shelter. He came up to the cage at the first visit, wagging his tail, and greeted the visitors directly as they entered the enclosure. He let himself be touched everywhere and stayed close to the visitors during the entire visit. He particularly enjoyed seeking out direct physical contact and laid his head on the visitors' chests. After some time, he lay down relaxed next to them. He also responds attentively to sound cues and comes directly to them. In his interactions with his cage mate, Bane is calm. He did not react to the barking of the dogs around him, but was interested in people passing by and watched them wagging his tail from the cage. In the dog test, he showed appropriate social behavior and approached other dogs openly. We suspect that HUNDENAME is a Herdenschutzhund (HSH). Please inform yourself about the requirements for adopting a Herdenschutzhund. HSH mixes are often very independent and need a confident leadership. HUNDENAME suffers from arthritis/hip dysplasia. For this reason, a home without many stairs is sought to spare the dog pain. (The dog will need medication for the rest of its life.) HUNDENAME has a scar on his muzzle. This is not unusual in Romania. Many people there still believe that burning the muzzle protects dogs from diseases. However, the scar does not affect this dog in any way. HUNDENAME has a short tail. It is unclear whether his/her tail was docked or congenital. HUNDENAME is currently underweight. On the streets or in killing stations, the animals usually get little to no food, so they become very thin. However, the shelter provides our dog with more food, and he will hopefully be back to a healthy weight soon. HUNDENAME is slightly overweight. Often, people mean well with the dogs and feed them beyond their healthy ideal weight. However, the shelter allows the dog to lose some weight so that it can go to its new home slim and fit. Due to its health condition and age, we are looking for a sanctuary for this dog. In a sanctuary, higher veterinary costs are covered by the association and the adoption fee is waived. The dog should have a better chance of finding a home and spending the rest of its life in peace and safety. Due to the dog's health condition, the adoption fee is waived. We want our handicapped dogs to have a better chance of finding a home and spending the rest of their lives in peace and safety. For Bane, we are looking for people who enjoy a very people-oriented and affectionate young male dog. He brings an open, social nature and seeks the company of his people without being hectic or pushy. We are looking for people who are aware that rescue dogs bring a certain history with them. We can never predict at the shelter how a dog will react to life in Germany. Therefore, we are looking for people who have patience, perseverance, and goodwill. But one thing is certain: Whoever adopts instead of buying not only gives a second chance to an animal but also actively decides against animal suffering - and for a life with a very special companion by their side.

Im Tierheim seit: September 2026 Geschätztes Alter: geb. ca. September 2024 Geschätzte Schulterhöhe: ca. 50 – 59 cm Geschätztes Gewicht: ca. 20 – 24 kg Lerne hier Bane in weiteren Videos kennen! HUNDENAME leidet an Arthrose/ Hüftdysplasie.

About Bane

What life with Bane looks like

Bane is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bane, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bane?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bane on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bane if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bane already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bane isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bane and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
