Bärbel, Gandalf, Gretel, Gisbert, Gerda und Ginger

Unknown · Kitten · 2 months

Gandalf, Gretel, Gisbert, Gerda, and Ginger, a small colorful group, were secured by a concerned young lady in 56825 Gevenich and brought to our animal shelter. There was no sign of a mother cat anywhere. 😔 Similarly, the tiny Bärbel was picked up by her finders on a heavily trafficked road in 56823 Büchel, very close to the airfield. Two fates that once again make it clear how important it is to spay and neuter outdoor cats!!! What would have become of the little creatures if they hadn't been found and brought to us? Fate has brought the kittens together and little Bärbel was able to find friends and playmates. They are all growing up in a loving foster home, protected and cared for, socialized and prepared for life. Not long now, and the dwarves will be able to receive their first visitors. _____________ Gretel and Ginger are already promised 😊

DE·Show original

About Bärbel, Gandalf, Gretel, Gisbert, Gerda und Ginger

What life with Bärbel, Gandalf, Gretel, Gisbert, Gerda und Ginger looks like

Bärbel, Gandalf, Gretel, Gisbert, Gerda und Ginger is a small kitten cat waiting at Tierheim Mayen in Mayen.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bärbel, Gandalf, Gretel, Gisbert, Gerda und Ginger, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bärbel, Gandalf, Gretel, Gisbert, Gerda und Ginger?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Mayen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bärbel, Gandalf, Gretel, Gisbert, Gerda und Ginger on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bärbel, Gandalf, Gretel, Gisbert, Gerda und Ginger if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Mayen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bärbel, Gandalf, Gretel, Gisbert, Gerda und Ginger already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bärbel, Gandalf, Gretel, Gisbert, Gerda und Ginger isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Mayen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bärbel, Gandalf, Gretel, Gisbert, Gerda und Ginger and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
