BARILLA

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Barilla is a gorgeous, big girl of four, with a beautiful white coat, a fluffy tail and two eyes that couldn't quite agree on a colour. One blue, one brown. And frankly, we're glad they didn't, because the result is pretty spectacular. We first met her when she was just a puppy, with enormous paws and a body she hadn't quite figured out how to operate yet. In September 2022, she was adopted by a family who loved her dearly. She grew up in a home, learned all about family life and became an incredibly sweet, affectionate and loving dog. But Barilla also has a cautious side. She likes to know what's going on around her, take things at her own pace and get to know new people gradually. Unexpected situations aren't really her thing, and when something unsettles her, she may have a few things to say about it. Usually by barking. With the people she knows and trusts, though, she's a big sweetheart who loves cuddles, peace and quiet, and simply being close to her humans. Over the years, her family has grown and life at home has changed. There are now two young children in the house, and what feels like perfectly normal fun to them, running around, playing and making noise, can be a lot for Barilla to handle. So, although her family loves her very much, they've come to realise that this new environment isn't quite right for her. Barilla is spayed, microchipped, trained and already knows her way around living in a home. Her ideal family would be people with experience of more cautious dogs, who can offer her a calm, predictable routine, preferably without young children. A quieter neighbourhood, away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, would suit her much better. And if those people happen to appreciate big cuddles, peaceful moments and a dog with plenty of love to give, Barilla has a whole lot to offer in return. Including two of the most beautiful, mismatched eyes we've ever seen!

About BARILLA

What life with BARILLA looks like

BARILLA is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Save a Greek Stray in Metsovo.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting BARILLA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BARILLA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Save a Greek Stray handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BARILLA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BARILLA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Save a Greek Stray will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is BARILLA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BARILLA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Save a Greek Stray early rather than rehoming privately; they know BARILLA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
