Bark-Tholomew

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Bark-Tholomew is a big softie who loves to have a cuddle once he gets to know you. He also enjoys meeting new doggy friends, and he’ll definitely benefit from socialising with other dogs whilst he’s out and about. Bark-Tholomew really loves his food – in fact, he’s a bit overweight at the moment, so his new family will need to continue with his diet to help him shed a few pounds! He’s very curious when he’s exploring new places, and he enjoys playing chase with his favourite ball, both of which should help with his weight loss too. In the warm weather, Bark-Tholomew loves to have a calm paddle in a doggy pool. Bark-Tholomew is a sensitive soul with a massive heart, and we can’t wait to see him thriving in his perfect home! This distinguished gentleman is Bark-Tholomew, a 7-year-old Crossbreed. Bark-Tholomew is quite nervous around handling, so his new family will need to read his body language, be patient, and build up his trust slowly. Once he knows you, he’s a real sweetheart who loves a good fuss! Because he’s currently a little underconfident, Bark-Tholomew’s ideal home would be with secondary school children or older, who are sensible and comfortable around larger dogs. He could potentially live with another calm dog in the home pending a successful meet at our centre. We don’t know much about Bark-Tholomew’s past, so we’d advise that any time being left at home alone should be built up slowly so he can feel comfortable.

About Bark-Tholomew

What life with Bark-Tholomew looks like

Bark-Tholomew is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bark-Tholomew, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bark-Tholomew?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bark-Tholomew on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bark-Tholomew if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bark-Tholomew already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bark-Tholomew isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bark-Tholomew and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
